The painful events that took place on November 17th
1939 in Prague, the world should regrettably
remember; when university students did not hesitate
to face death and imprisonment in a direct combat
against the Nazi gendarmes who had empowered the
Czech capital.
The historical importance of the action held by
those youngsters, massacred, beaten and held in
prison by Hitler’s barbarian soldiers, made the
International Students’ Union establish on November
17th, 1941, as the Students’ Day.
Marjulys Garcia Gonzalez —Jorge Dimitrov (Ceiba
5)—, president of the FEEM (Federation of High
School Students) in Caimito, asserts to feel with
the commitment in her responsibility as a student
and a youth leader. She refers, with pride, the "problems"
the young people of our country face, in a country
where there is guaranteed the free education and the
rights to accede a technical career (bachelor) or
university. By now, she thinks about the Congress of
the UJC (Young Communist League). "There will be
debated those main aspects of fundamental importance
for those who will assume, in the present future,
the legacy of the historical leaders of the Cuban
Revolution.
"We had already discussed the problems which we
are going to take to the IX Congress. –we had
analyzed comrade Raul’s speech."
Daniela Perera Barrios —Turcios Lima (Ceiba 2)—,
vice president of the FEEM in Caimito, considers the
students (Young Communist League’s militants) should
support the rest, turn real vanguard reference and
demand a greater preparation in the school’s tasks.
"We have many expectations for this IX Congress."
Oniel Chapotin Hernandez, UJC’s official in
Havana, asserts the young people have to take
advantages of the opportunity of the Youth’s
Congress, to analyze the job’s lines which will
define our paper in the future of our Homeland.
Rayda Lamas Velez, IPA Simon Bolivar’s student,
asserts we should trust in the youngsters and she
specified that the Congress will permit demonstrate
so. This way was confirmed by the student Adrian
Raul Remon Martinez, from Bejucal, who pointed out
to give priority to those topics related to those
aspects of the youth’s interest, with no exception.
"We have expectations and needs, but also
responsibilities and, above all, with those tasks
assigned, the study, the job and the defense of the
Homeland."
