"In spite of the rain, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution celebrated the 49^th Anniversary of the foundation in a full combat clamor, in Havana municipality Guira de Melena, due to its systematic results achieved in the principal tasks and indicators of the organization, it won the provincial venue for the date, in a meeting presided by Juan Jose Rabilero Fonseca, coordinator of the CDR in our country.

Daima Elena Martinez Ramirez, a young base leader from Zone 16, ratified the commitment of the Cuban youth to continue defending the conquests and achievements obtained in these 50 years of efforts and victories and strengthen the confrontation and combat with no mercy from the streets, neighborhoods and to the communities against those who dare damage the Revolution.

The National Coordination, due to their stable and systematic results in the every day activities of the organization in Guira de Melena, granted the condition of National Vanguard Municipality, a recognition that was handed over to Clara Sotomayor Hidalgo, its coordinator, by Rabilero, accompanied by Isabel Horta Llanes, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party and Vu Xuan Hong, president of the Union of Friendship Organizations from Viet Nam and deputy of the Parliament of the brother Asian country. Meanwhile Melena del Sur, Santa Cruz del Norte and San Jose de las Lajas were outstanding municipalities.

Regla Corbea Perez, the CDR coordinator in our territory, convoked the members of the CDR from Havana to devote themselves with modesty and without boasting –as it was expressed by General Army Raul Castro- to the strict fulfillment of the duty. "That is the key to win –she said- in the production of alimonies, surveillance, attention to the family, political-ideological strengthening, reaffirmation of values, voluntary blood donations, collection of raw material and the permanent claim of the return of our five antiterrorist compatriots Rene, Ramon, Gerardo, Antonio and Fernando unjustly imprisoned in the United States.
